
Intensive Therapist, Intensive Services (Kenton)
LOCATION: Toronto, ON
POSITION TYPE: Regular Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
Salary Range: $56,880-$59,215

Lumenus Community Services is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Intensive Therapist to work in our Day School Milieu Treatment Program (section 23) which is located in a community school in mid Toronto.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work within a multidisciplinary framework and treatment team approach to provide developmentally appropriate treatment services to very young children ages 3.8-7
• Provides high quality to ensure the welfare, safety and security to the clients
• Supports the development of self-care skills which includes has on assistance with hygiene routines including toileting
• You will work in close partnership with Board of Education teachers during the phases of assessment, review, and discharge.
• Ensure supportive,safe and predictable enviroment through the establishment of routines,limits and daily living skills;
• Participate in the development and implementation of assessments, goals and treatment plans for assigned clients and liaise with families, in coordination with the Service Team, as required;
• Participate in treatment planning, Service Reviews / Plans of Care, program planning and evaluation meetings and ensure communication of all pertinent client and program related information and events to the Service Team;
• Coordinate services with other community programs where required, and work collaboratively with school administration, teachers and educational assistants in the classroom in the implementation of the academic program;
• Complete and maintain up-to-date client records and coordinate and maintain responsibility for program duties including transportation, medication administration, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education
• 2 to 3 years of experience in delivering play based programs to very young children with complex needs, suspected developmental disability and/or autism and mental health concerns,
• Trained in the following areas:
o Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI, SMG or equivalent)
o First Aid and CPR
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Able to conduct an assessment, develop and implement individual and group treatment plans;
• Well established interpersonal and communication written and verbal skills.
• Displays sensitivity to diversity issues (cultural competence), promote anti- oppressive principles and inclusive practices;
• Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, including lifting, bending and prolonged standing as well as the ability to be trained in CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) techniques;
• Knowledge of strength based approaches, dual diagnosis, autism spectrum disorder, and the impact on the clients and their families;
• Familiarity with applied behavior analysis
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team;
• A self-starter who is able to work well with limited on-site supervision and possesses excellent time management and interpersonal skills, knowledge of the importance of relational practice;
• Able to work effectively and co-operatively to maintain a working relationship with school personnel, community agencies, families and other service providers.
• Understanding of developmental trauma and the importance of attachment-based interventions
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening and PRC process;
• Medical clearance in accordance with Lumenus Community Services policy on pre- employment medicals;
• Comfortable working in different settings;
• Possession of a valid ‘G’ class Ontario driver’s licence is preferred and fluency in French or a second language are advantageous.
