Team Lead, Intensive Services (Kenton)

LOCATION: Toronto, ON

POSITION TYPE: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

Lumenus Community Services is hiring a full time Team Lead, Intensive Services within our Day Treatment program. Working collaboratively with the Intensive Therapists, the Team Lead, Intensive Services is the on-site Early Childhood Education or Child & Youth Counsellor/Worker responsible for making decisions related to day-to-day programming and overall shift coordination. They will be expected to liaise with internal and external programs to coordinate client service. You will report to the Manager, Intensive Services and you will be responsible for a team of direct reports (relief and Intensive Therapists as assigned by manager).

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Provides support to team members to ensure seamless service delivery in Day Treatment

·         Responsible for ensuring shift coverage and meeting service targets including overseeing relief staff scheduling

·         Provides occasional day to day care of very young child clients including supporting them with skill building in self care, following routines, toileting and in social interactions.

·         maintains program safety and responds to issues related to supporting very young children with complex needs.

·          Working with the Manager, Day Treatment liaises with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) host school, Section 23 administration with respect to site-specific issues and the TDSB transportation and community agencies as required

·         Maintains on-site petty cash and program supplies

·         Ensures that client information is entered accurately and in a timely manner in the client information system TREAT

·         Coordinates student placement at Day Treatment sites

·         Supports treatment staff, program manager and psychotherapist/ service coordinator in providing crisis intervention and follow-up

·         Organizes own work to meet scheduled deadlines and program demand

·         Aligns with Lumenus’ vision, mission, values and strategic priorities, emphasizing learning and active support

·         Complies with agency policies and procedures and accreditation standards

·         Adheres to the organizational health and safety policies and practices along with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act. This includes but is not limited to: ensuring safe workplace practices, protecting the health and safety of themselves and others and maintaining cleanliness in the workplace

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         ECE/ CYW/CYC or Bachelor Degree in a related field or a combination of education and related experience

·         6 years’ experience working with very young children with complex needs with developmental concerns combined with mental health issues, developmental disabilities and autism

·         Demonstrated high personal work performance and solid leadership capabilities within an intensive milieu based treatment setting.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·         Superior knowledge of modalities and effective approaches for engaging very young children with complex needs ( play therapy, ABA, attachment theory, CBT)

·         Ability to exercise professional judgement in high conflict and stressful situations

·         Ability to prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced environment

·         Highly developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to collaborate and resolve issues with and between team members, colleagues and other stakeholders in a manner that is respectful and in accordance with the agency culture and philosophy

·         Ability to demonstrate and work through a lens of sensitivity to diversity related to race, religion, culture, cognitive functioning, poverty, sexual orientation and gender identity, etc.

 

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

·         Work requires travel between different Day Treatment sites; access to reliable transportation  is required

·         Satisfactory clearance of vulnerable Sector and Police record check Screening process

·         Valid and current First Aid and CPR certificate

·         Valid and current CPI certification

·         Some evening work may be required.
