Intake Worker - General

LOCATION: Toronto, ON 

POSITION TYPE: one Full-Time Regular (37.5 hours/week); 

POSTING CLOSING DATE: August 30, 2025

This role will report to the Manager, Intake.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Processes initial inquiries to Lumenus, prioritizes and either directs them to different programs and/or sets up Intake appointments for the Intake team. This includes conducting intakes through live phone calls and through referral services (i.e. MHTO, website).

·       Respond to incoming inquiries appropriately.

·       Conduct client intake assessments

·       Orient clients to Lumenus services

·       Complete data entry processes related to client intake.

·       Coordinate appointments by managing Intake worker schedule and booking appointments with available intake workers.

·       Manage Intake clinical files; updating and closing records, ensuring compliance with record retention policies, coordinating storage and destruction services.

·       Organize and participate in educational seminars, workshops, and training for youth, families, service providers, and staff

·       Other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

·       Post-secondary education in Social Services (e.g., BSW, Psychology, Social Service Worker) or equivalent with at least 3 years previous related experience in an intake/client facing position or equivalent combination of experience and education.

·       Not-for-profit experience in an accredited organization is an asset.

·       Experience with client databases and electronic health records is an asset.

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

·       Ability to meet the needs of a diverse client base and be familiar and sensitive to diversity and inclusion.

·       Knowledge of mental health needs for children, youth,and families.

·       Familiarity with how to access community resources for diverse client needs

·       Skills to engage potential clients in highly sensitive scenarios.

·       Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced team environment.

·       Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks and manage time effectively.

·       Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, paying attention to details and confidentiality.

·       Flexibility to be able to adapt to changing conditions.

·       Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills

·       Strong administrative skills.

·       Proficient in standard office software; min. 45 WPM and strong note taking skills.

·       Strong understanding of teamwork and the ability to work effectively and contribute to a high performing team.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

·       Satisfactory clearance under the Criminal Reference Check.

          Travel may be required to other agency locations.

          Fluency in verbal/written French is an asset.
