Manager, Day Treatment Services

LOCATION: Toronto, ON

POSITION TYPE:  Full-time, (37.5 hours per week)

Lumenus is currently filling a full time position as Manager, Intensive Services, within our Day Treatment program. The position serves young children who present with a range of complex mental health behavioral and developmental needs, and their families.

The Manager is responsible for the delivery of evidence based/ evidence informed treatment through the milieu setting, including all aspects of the children’s day program, from admissions to demissiont treatment and transition supports. This position is responsible to provide clinical and administrative supervision to front-line staff, relief staff and students and for the provision of clinical direction, guidance, and coaching to a transdisciplinary team. This position is required to provide direct support in the classroom as required, and ensure the support and treatment interventions are consistent with evidence based/ informed models.

The manager must be able to provide training, clinical direction, guidance, coaching/training, support an anti-oppressive perspective/frame work (AOP), when working with and supporting staff. Being able to recognize and identify situations where incidents of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible impact. The person must show a keen willingness to be self-reflective that allow for the capacity to be an advocate and seek equitable solutions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Supports the vision, mission and values of Lumenus and actively enables Lumenus’ strategic directions

•  Responsible for the day-to-day milieu based service delivery, and management of Day Treatment team members at multiple sites in Toronto;

•  Ensures the delivery of a high quality clinical program that is data led and outcome driven

•  Provide clinical and administrative supervision/support to the  Therapists (ECE, CYC, BT etc) in the programs who have various education and training in child and youth counselling, early childhood education and as behavior technicians

•  Contributes within a transdisciplinary team to the development, coordination and implementation of individual treatment programs for each client;

•  Provide clear focus and direction for Day Treatment Teams consistent with evidence

based/informed approaches;

•  Liaise with programs across the agency to develop coordinated services for clients;

•  Participate as part of the agency’s management team in the development of services and programs within the agency and with relevant community partners.

•  Works in partnership with external stakeholders, such as the Education and Community Partnership Program (ECPP) with the Toronto District School Board, the lead agency for MOH and the Ministry of Children Community and Social Services (MCSS).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

•  B.A. in a related field or combination of Community College Diploma (i.e. E.C.E, C.Y.C., S.S.W., H.S.C.) and;

•  Minimum of 5 years of direct care and support experience working with children with special needs, families, school staff, child care staff, transdisciplinary teams, and other community partners.

•  1-3 years formal leadership and supervisory experience required;

•   Experience working in milieu treatment-based services;

•   Relevant experience in supporting staff with respect to HR related issues, cases management, program management and quality assurance;

•   Demonstrated skill to mobilize and energize a team of direct care intensive therapists

•   Experience in the implementation of service plans, which are sensitive to and include the following: ethno-racial needs, social and life skills as well as behavioural assessmenst, behavioral analysis, and behavior management techniques.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

•   Well versed in evidence informed and evidence based interventions that successfully treat young children with complex social emotional and behavior needs

•   Clinical acuity and understanding of child and family development within a relational and trauma informed practice Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing;

•   Clinical acuity and understanding of children with possible developmental delays combined with autism using strategies consistent with Applied Behavior Analysis

•   Demonstrated skill using strategies specific to very young children, such as play-based treatment

•   Well-developed clinical skills and an ability to apply systems theory and thinking in providing coaching and direction to staff;

•   Demonstrated competency in cross-cultural work and ability to support front-line staff;

•   Proficient in working with MS Office Suite and client record software.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

•   Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening and Police Records Check  process;

•   Ability to travel to various locations within Toronto and access to reliable transportation to travel thoughout Toronto regions on a regular basis;
