Lumenus Community Services is looking to hire a Heath and Safety Assistant. The Health and Safety Assistant will support the development, implementation, and monitoring of health and safety initiatives across all Lumenus Community Services sites. This role provides hands on experience in promoting a culture of safety, conducting risk assessments, assisting with compliance audits, and contributing to the continuous improvement of workplace safety programs.

Working collaboratively with staff across office, service, and healthcare environments, the assistant will help ensure safe, healthy, and compliant working conditions for employees and clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•       Assist with workplace health and safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits

•       Support fire safety initiatives, emergency preparedness activities, and safety planning

•       Help develop, update, and organize health and safety policies, procedures, and training materials

•       Participate in safety training initiatives and awareness campaigns

•       Assist with incident reporting, documentation and WSIB claims

•       Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements

•       Collaborate with teams across departments to support health and safety initiatives

•       Contribute ideas and recommendations to continuously improve workplace safety practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

•       Currently entering 3rd or 4th year of a post secondary program in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or a related field

•       Interest in workplace health, safety, and wellness

•       Strong organizational and communication skills

•       Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

•       Attention to detail and strong documentation skills

•       Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is an asset

•       Able to work in-person, across sites

•       Access to reliable transportation to travel to various worksites within the GTA

•       Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification is considered an asset
