Lumenus is looking for a Youth Harm Reduction Worker to collaborate with other members of the Harm Reduction team in the creation and delivery of harm reduction capacity building activities, trainings and workshops with, and for, staff and service users.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and facilitate training and workshops for clients:
- Collaborate with other Youth Harm Reduction Workers and Youth Harm Reduction Mentors to determine staff training goals/approaches/activities
- Develop and facilitate trainings and workshops on topics related to substance use, mental health, harm reduction, sex work and sexual health for staff and young people
- Participate and support the implementation of project evaluation activities
- Participate in team discussions and skill building workshops
- Adheres to the organizational health and safety policies and practices along with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act. This includes but is not limited to: ensuring safe workplace practices, protecting the health and safety of themselves and others and maintaining cleanliness in the workplace
Promote a safe place for clients:
- Support and promote and open, safe space where youth and/or adult participants feel comfortable discussing drugs and drug use drugs and drug use without feeling stigmatized or judged in the context of youth-engagement activities
- Consistently model inclusive language/behaviour and respond to racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist and otherwise oppressive language/behaviour proactively and without shaming individuals
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
- Lived experience with substance use and/or sex work.
- Ability to bring passion, commitment and dedication to the team

Experience of and/or knowledge of topics related to substance use, mental health, harm reduction and sexual health
- Developed interpersonal and self-advocacy skills

Ability to work from a harm reduction approach and communicate about drugs, drug use, sex, sex work and mental health in ways that reduce associated stigma

Experience facilitating youth activities and/or workshops
- Candidates must be between the age of 18 to 25 as this is a peer youth position to work with clients within the same age group.
